Styling Your Best Self for Fall

We asked local fashion and lifestyle blogger Ireana Nathan of Xoxo, I.Joelle to share her favorite styling tips for finding flattering fits and transitioning from Charleston’s heat to early fall.

Mastering the Summer-to-Fall Transition
You don’t have to go out and purchase a whole new wardrobe for fall, especially when the temperatures outside are still hot. You can transition some of those summer pieces into your fall wardrobe:

Summer Dress: Take your favorite summer dress and add layers. Pair the dress with a cardigan, utility vest or even a faux moto jacket. To complete the look, switch out your sandals for a pair of ankle booties.

Jumpsuit: Yes, you can take that jumpsuit into fall by adding a cardigan, blazer and faux moto jacket to the look. Depending on the straps of the jumpsuit, you can add a long sleeve top or turtleneck under the jumpsuit.

T-shirt: That graphic T-shirt that you wore all summer can be transitioned, as well. By layering your T-shirt with a button top, cardigan or even a blazer.

Dress Your Shape Not Your Size
Dressing your best self is all about being comfortable and confident. Being willing to try new pieces and step out your comfort zone. Yes, it is hard to shop your curves sometimes but don’t be discouraged. Do your research and figure out what works for you. Remember that style has no size!

Style Tips:

  • Wear one voluminous piece at a time.  If you’re going to wear a flowy blouse finish it off with a fitting pencil skirt or a pair of skinny jeans. Pair a pleated midi skirt with a fitted T-shirt or buttoned-up shirt.
  • If you are busty, avoid tops that gape or pull. Investing in a good bra will give you a smoother look and keep your girls in place throughout the day.
  • No matter what your shape or size, a wrap dress would fit perfectly in your wardrobe.
