Summer seems to be on it’s way out, not necessarily in temperature, but with the kids going back to school and Dandy switching over to fall, there is definitely a change in the air (metaphorically speaking). Change is a good thing; it keeps us on our toes, challenges us to do things differently, and ultimately allows us to grow. Before we completely say goodbye to summer, I wanted to share one more sun-kissed collaboration with a great group of women, who all have recently embraced a significant change in their lives.
My best friend, Angela, has recently decided to take her passion for floral design to the next level by creating Charleston Flower Girl. Not only is she an amazing floral designer, but she has an great eye for detail. Liz, needing a creative outlet, decided to embrace her love for interior design and styling by creating the adorable blog The Charleston Weekender. Ashley, going back and forth between the South and Midwest, talks all things fashion on her blog, All Dressed Up, and uses it as a way to keep her passion for fashion design front and center.
In talking with these lovely women, each one had a similar reason for wanting to make a change. Having an outlet to create and do things we are passionate about is very important. I know if I hadn’t made that jump and decided to open Dandy, I wouldn’t have had near the opportunities and experiences that I have today. Some of those experiences I will remember for the rest of my life. It gives you a sense of accomplishment to know that you are the driving force behind something, whether it be your business, blog, brand, or even a hobby you do just for you. Whatever it is that opens you up and excites you is really what it’s all about. The great people you meet along the way are an added bonus. So as we say goodbye to summer and get ready for the changing season, remember that embracing change is a good thing and, more often than not, leads to some amazing things, great people, and fun times! Not to mention, I get to lounge around on a giant swan in the back of a beautiful Lowcountry home.
