Non-Stop Fashion Marathon

We are in the home stretch of the 10th year anniversary of Charleston Fashion Week. It’s Grand Finale Night, and the winner of the 2016 Emerging Designer will be announced. It’s been one non-stop fashion marathon; I say ‘marathon’ because I’m physically tired and my feet hurt from very high (and very adorable) heels every night.

It truly has been one incredible week, and every night has been jam-packed with amazing fashion from upcoming designers, local retailers, established designers, and fashion students.

It takes a lot of work to get to that moment of when the lights go down and it’s showtime. The production team worked endless hours to transform Marion Square into a Fashion Village. The designers tediously crafted their collections for months. The models transitioned from show to show, night after night. The hair and makeup team moved at lightning speed. The final moments backstage before showtime is madness.

All of this preparation, hard work, and passion leads into one truth that makes it all worth it — we love fashion. Fashion allows us to express our identities. It inspires, creatively bonds us, and ultimately makes us happy. And what better way to celebrate our love for fashion than to devote a whole week to it?

I hope you were able to join in on the fun this year, whether it was as a spectator or part of the magic that made it happen. I had the opportunity to be on both sides this year, and got to witness in so many ways what this week means to everyone involved. It has been amazing — being under the tents is truly a very special thing!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to scramble to find one more perfect outfit for one last night!
