He has written hits for Rihanna, J. Holiday, and Usher. But now we finally get a more up close and personal view of Terius Nash, also known as The - Dream. His debut album titled Love/Hate, is sexy, alive, and moving. His first single, “Shawty Is Da Sh*t”, is about a guy who sees one of his former female classmates five years after high school. I’m sure the title is self explanatory. In the second single, “Falsetto”, he’s letting the ladies know he can put it down. He’ll have you singin’ higher than Mariah! The third single (my personal favorite), is titled “I Luv Your Girl”. This guy has his eye on another man’s girl in the club. They start dancing with one another and the boyfriend is left for dead (so sad). But that’s why you don’t bring your boyfriend/girlfriend to the club people. DON’T SAY YOU HAVEN’T BEEN WARNED. Track number 3 it hot! “Fast Car” clearly shows that The Dream has been listing to Prince, and who can blame him? In track 4 he’s letting his ex-girl know that she missed out on him, and don’t try to come back cuz now he’s making love to “Nikki”. He ends the album with a song simply titled “Mama”. The lyrics suggest that his mother is deceased with words like “I’ve been thinking of you” and “If I could bring you back…”, definitely an emotional one.
Over all, you get pretty much the same sound through out the album but he does a good job keeping you interested. I kind of like the fact that he doesn’t have 20 tracks like most artists these days, that’s just too many. Twelve is a perfect number! Back in the day you would only get 10 at the most and 9 of them where good, they knew what they were doing. The-Dream won the Best New Artist Award at the BET Music Awards and I can hear why...but don’t take my word for it, what do I know?
I’m out!
