ISO Volvos and Computers

The cost of my trans-Atlantic move doesn’t bear thinking about.  Between VISA fees, plane tickets, buying a new car, paying a deposit on our (cutie) house...well, let’s just say our plan to move to America, the Land of the Cheap, has not yet become profitable.

We’re also looking for a laptop; mine was stolen* off my luggage trolley at Gatwick Airport last year, the day I moved to England.  Very sad.  Yesterday, we lost an eBay bidding war by a mere 50 cents.  A couple of hours later, the husband drove 45 minutes to check out a Volvo, only to arrive 5 seconds after a lady who bought it on the spot...

Stay tuned, for more on the car/computer search saga.

*Ok, TECHNICALLY, I left the laptop bag hanging on the trolley, and we drove off, but I remembered just a couple of miles down the road, and we went back to get it, except by then, someone had made off with it.  A week or so later, they signed onto my instant messenger account, and my little sister IMed them, saying, “Why would you steal  my sister’s computer?  That is so mean.”  I wish she would’ve just said, “Please leave it at the airport and we’ll pick it up, no questions asked.”  Lessons learned: 1) Check after your wife at the airport to make sure she got everything off the trolley.  2) Back your ish up.
