Motherhood. I never thought I’d be here, but here I am. I never thought I’d be the motherly type, but I have surprised myself. I may not be the perfect mother (who is?) but I’m here and I’m doing a pretty good job with my seven year old daughter and four year old son, with my husband’s help.
One of my best friends is a mother of five. I am amazed by her. Now SHE was the person that was the least likely to have a big family. None of us expected for her to have five children. She is an amazing mother. She carts her kids from volleyball to basketball, to music lessons and to dance class. She does all this while still taking care of her last baby, a four year old, and helping out her husband with his Farmer’s Insurance agency. She is a super mom.
Another girlfriend of mine is a single mom with two little girls. Their father is far away in Thailand, on business, and she does it all. She had to leave out of town on business this week for four days, but her village came together to help her out so that she can do her job and still be a mother.
I also have a girlfriend who has two daughters, is a teacher, and one of her daughters has special needs. She amazes me too. She and her husband do so much for their two girls.
My class president from high school is a CPA for a major corporation and is raising two children with her husband. Yet I see her at school every time there is a program or a meeting. She works a very demanding job and I see her there for her kids. She’s even made time to attend a couple of meetings to plan our 20 year class reunion.
Our PTA president is an attorney who works with her husband’s practice. I am in awe.
We are the modern American women. Single moms, working moms, stay at home moms that also work part-time. We want it all and we do it all. We raise our children while keeping a career and sometimes even managing to get away for a weekend with our significant other.
The modern woman and mother ROCKS!

Thanks so much for the comment. It really means a lot to be thought of in that manner since I don't always feel like I am doing everything I should be doing. You know my motto is "So much to do, so little time". I'm still trying to find time to take care of myself. We'll see.
