File this under learning something every day:
there’s a cool static fashion show at the Natick Collection, just outside Neiman Marcus, featuring students from Mount Ida College.

As a recent college graduate who’s attended 5 schools in a 20 year career, I felt like an idiot because I never knew Mt. Ida offers fashion design (I have to get on their mailing list!). In fact, they stage a student fashion show every year. Here are the details on this year’s:
Mount Ida College Annual Student Fashion Show: Collections 2008
Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 6 p.m.
Back Bay Events Center (John Hancock Call)
180 Berkeley St., Boston, MA
Tickets are $14 and may be purchased at the door.
It would be fun to attend if there are more creative approaches like the ones displayed in the mall...

And the creator of the design below said (in a poster about the source of her inspiration) that she imagined what sort of fantasy dress a mental patient would want to wear when she was released ... note the straightjacket details like buckles and extra-long sleeves!

The display is available until April 21... enjoy!
