Where's the party?

Happy Birthday to those of you having a birthday today.  For those of you that aren’t, just pretend you are and follow my thought...

In honor of two skirt.com’s staff (Angie and Nik) birthdays today, I’ve pulled a couple of classic “skirt!” pieces regarding birthdays.  So grab a piece of cake and enjoy!

Happy Friggin* Birthday!

The days of no one remembering it’s your birthday are certainly over, now that every purchase you make, every website you visit, every song you listen to, every restaurant you patronize, every gift you buy (you get the idea) is captured and rolled up into a data thumbprint that marketers use to target you with “personal messages.” This year alone I received Happy Birthday messages (and a coupon for at least $10 off ) -- either in my inbox or my mailbox -- from:

Unkindest Cut?

Yesterday was a tough one – hours in the office followed by hours in the car and more in a doctor’s office. I got home at 8pm, tired and famished, only to find that I’d be tested one more time.

Anyway, I don’t think she ever quite forgave me. She wanted to be a mom before the milestone hit her. Consequently, she is turning 60 two days before I turn 30 this year...

Turning 36

36, wow that is a big number. Funny how I used to think anything over 30 was old. Now I have a 12 year old step-daughter and a 15 year old niece who think I AM OLD? What?? That can’t be. I don’t feel old. I don’t look old. I don’t have wrinkles, now I must admit I do have gray hair, well actually it is silver, but noone sees it because I am always coloring it. Right now it is PINK. But ME, OLD?? No way.

My climb just short of the Top

Oh yeah, and now I'm 24

I climbed a rock wall on Saturday.

Well, that’s not completely true – I ATTEMPTED to climb a rock wall on Saturday and got half-way to the top before I lost all strength and feeling in my forearms and let the cable whiz me back down to the mat (where I lay on my back – still strapped in my harness for about five minutes before I had the strength to rise again).
