Someone said to me today that it seems that everything with skirt!® is starting to come together. Boy, does it feel good. Skirt.com is no exception to this phenomenon. Along with launching a print/digital magazine in Greensboro and Tampa Bay, we’ve got new staff in place, new plans, new projects, new friends and some amazing new discoveries of talented, inspirational women.
Some new things to note:
Muse of the Month: Our Muse of the Month, Giulietta is extraordinary. Her thoughts and wisdom shine through her posts -- as does her spirit. If you haven’t read her writings recently, please take the time out of your day to refresh your mind and your soul. Her latest blog, Three Wishes, is inspiring.
V-Day: Hold on to your skirts! Today we will be launching our quest for Feminism! We begin with an EXCLUSIVE, in-depth interview with the thoughtful Eve Ensler, playwright, performer and activist who is the author of The Vagina Monologues. Next , follow Margaret and Sabrina (two, young and thirsty skirt! editorial assistants) and their journey to discover the true meaning of Feminism in America as they take a wild and crazy road trip to the 10th anniversary performance of the Vagina Monologues. Through their crazy antics and the the in-depth profiles and interviews, we hope to give all of our skirt! users a snapshot of independent women making a difference in our world. Their journey will of course end at the 10th Anniversary of The Vagina Monologues in New Orleans, April 11 – 12, 2008. Skirt! will be giving away tickets to this one time event – Stay Tuned!
On a personal note:
Skirt.com now has a dedicated staff and we are soooo excited!
My mum always said that life is cyclical, and so it is. Everything old is new again and every other cliché that applies. I’m back focused on one digital initiative again after seven plus years of corporate life and joining the team are two of the most seasoned, exceptional Internet professionals I’ve had the privilege of working with and for.
Angelia Spell is joining us as Webmaster and she will be responsible for the overall operation of the skirt.com site. Nik Wilets will be leading up the development end of things as Lead Developer, bringing good digital things to life for the skirt!® brand. I’m thrilled that we were able to capture these two folks and bring them into the skirt! family.
Angelia has worked for Morris DigitalWorks for over seven years building and maintaining sites and most recently project managing some of Morris’ largest Internet developments to date. Known for her organization and creativity, Angie is a true catch and brings fantastic skills (and connections ;)) to skirt.com. You will find Angie camped out on the site now, leading the charge on the Vagina Monologues video and blog project and can find out more about her on her blog.
And what can I say about Nik... Among being one of the few gentleman to grace our midst, he is also one of Morris’ national award winning designers and developers. Nik is arguably one of the most innovative developers at MCC and yes, he has agreed to wear a skirt, as long as we call it a kilt!
We are already cooking up new things for skirt.com and hope you will join us on this wonderful journey! As always, if you have any thoughts, or suggestions, let us know! We’d love to hear from you.
‘Till next time.
