Viva Frida!

A recent article in The New York Times about Frida Kahlo reminded me of how her art never grows stale, no matter how many times it’s reproduced on a tray or a pocket mirror.  There’s an exhibit of her work  at The Philadelphia Museum of Art through May 18 if you can make it. And if not, why don’t you have a Frida party like I do when the weather turns warm. You can decorate with paper tissue banners with cutouts of Frida’s face or paintings and celebrate creativity, color and life, crazy life.

What a wonderful idea!! And with it being Women's History Month that would be so appropriate. Here in Houston we're about to star celebrating the Sor Juana Festival. I'm going to blog about the celebration soon. It's a festival to celebrate Mexican women, but it in fact celebrates all women and feminists, since Sor Juana was the first feminist of the Americas.
