I'm a ghostwriter and book editor - there are a lot of amazing and inspirational stories that deserve and need to be told... so I help shape and polish the writing first!
I'm a mom of two teenagers and the wife of an amazing man and, at heart, a loner who doesn't like to be alone. Some days, I want to jump on the bed and laugh joyously and, other times, I can barely suppress the temptation to crawl under the bed and hide from the world. Bi-polar? Nope... just a girl!...

BLOGGER CHALLENGE!

OK ALL YOU BLOGGERS – CHALLENGE TIME!

romance_novel.jpg

Thanks to an unintentional nudge from Ms. Sarah, I am hereby implementing Fiction Fridays! You can JOIN ME - or simply wait in bated suspense until the next week to see what will happen next in the lives of whatever characters unfold in my first Trashy Novel (and those of whoever decides to join in).

Rules? We don’t need no stinkin’ rules… (but here they are):

Each Friday, we will introduce a new chapter, following guidelines set out by Ms. Sarah in her Thursday blog (http://skirt.com/node/21012).

Characters must include:

  • Feisty, small & dark-haired, big-green-eyed heroine
  • Blonde nemesis or sidekick
  • Tall, blonde, broad-shouldered hero with strongly muscled forearms, strong thighs and appealingly physical hobby
  • Either hero or heroine is blue blood
  • Dark, shameful secret in past of hero or heroine
  • Graceful, small-waisted women with small wrists, hands and feet, as well as small, firm round breasts (bigger for the vixens), and rounded, lean hips
  • Virginal heroine
  • Valiant but experienced hero (sometimes a rake, but always eventually a gentleman)
  • Rippable bodices
  • Aching loins
  • Throbbing body parts
  • Lust

OK, so we can either take turns writing a chapter apiece, letting it unfold through many different voices, or we can all write stories, one chapter at a time, and VOILA have our own, tongue-in-cheek books! (Well, I hope that’s where your tongue is! We’re posting on the World Wide Web, so no X-rated stuff, ladies and gents. Ha)   P.S. Mine will likely be tamer than most, because I would only want to write something my daughter could read… and, hey, I’m convinced ladies of faith want love, too…

Lemme know what you think, because next Friday… WE BEGIN!

(Look out NYT Bestseller Lists… here we come!)

Oh holy crap I am so excited! It will be like our own totally shameless not really following the rules NaNoWriMo, which I had planned on participating in and am going to explain in further detail in a blog, maybe today's blog since nothing's planned. YAY!

elizabeth cassidy, CC Creative Life and Career Transition Coach I was asked to join a creative writing group when I still lived in NYC. Was I over the top excited? First meeting was in the village. Great funky apartment and there was a wonderfully diverse group of people in attendance. A designer for the Muppets, artists, cute skinny suicidal poets (my kind of man back then and still now, but just a little) - I was in heaven. Then they started to read their writings and a cool sweat overtook my body. It was a romance novel writing group. I know nada about writing in that style and after a few sessions, I named my writing group - the Thrusting and Throbbing Writers' Group. I got whip leash just sitting there. These people needed to take a lot of cold showers. so, I love the idea of it and would like to contribute, but can I just write dialogue? :-) "Hi. How are you today?" "Fine. They say it's going to snow today." "Great. Take off your clothes." "You forgot to say the magic word. You swine."

don't you think as feminists we should do something better with our time?

How do you know we don't? Perhaps, this will be fun for a good laugh. My god, some of us need a giggle sometimes--don't we? At least, that's why I'm going to do it. For me, it will be like going out for a glass of wine with my girlfriends, letting my hair down, and forgetting about reality for a little while. Thanks Cheryl for an awesome idea and release from our everyday schedules!!! I shall put the "Kite Runner" down, and get into a little bit of throbbing and kissin'!

absolutely not! I'm so tired of being p.c. and preaching to the choir about Palin. I will admit I wrote some comedy/trashy romance novel material while under the influence of boxed wine and it still makes me laugh. Every chapter started with "Damn that/those..." i.e. "Damn that Burrito" and "Damn Those Antibiotics". I'm a geek- laughing as I write this. I'm in!!

Bah ha ha! My fevered brain. . .I'M in! This could be a riot and a half. Let me know the format. I'm down with either one. Maybe taking tuns with chapters? What a fun exercise. (giggle)

OK Budding Novelists (yes, I know some of you are already experienced and PUBLISHED novelists, but perhaps your breasts are budding or your marigolds are budding, you get my drift)... HERE WE GO! In the order of those who responded, we will each take a chapter and build our very own Skirt!romance extraordinaire! And, in honor of Kdanica's observation, we will also add to our character list a feminist best friend of the, oh let's say, Male Lead. Kdanica, I'm adding you to the author lineup, so lemme know if you will join our phillistinian ranks and poke fun at life for awhile. I'll take Week One of Fiction Fridays and the order from there will be: Sarah, Charlene, Kim, Renee, Elizabeth, Kdanica, Merci, Vanessa, Jodene and Amy. (I can just IMAGINE Amy's TOTALLY RAWKING conclusion!) Post on your own blog on the appropriate Friday, entitle it FICTION FRIDAY and provide links to the preceding chapters. Have fun! Eleven Fridays from now, we'll have a novel! :-) "Trust Life's unfolding..."
