Holiday reruns...

Tuesday, December, 18, 2007

It’s that time of year again – holiday + writer’s strike = reruns. I’m not keen on TV shows reruns (unless I haven’t watched the show...if I haven’t seen it, it’s new to me!).  When it comes to movies, there are many I’ll watch over and over again. The Breakfast Club, Clueless, Legally Blonde, Drop Dead GorgeousSin City...

And then there are the ones I only re-watch so I can see my favorite part:

Natural Born Killers – the part where Mallory  (Juliette Lewis) is in a jail cell singing “Born Bad” right before Scagnetti (Tom Sizemore) comes in and gets his ass kicked. I would like to have that version of that song on a mix CD called “Girl Kicks Ass.”  Also included: Joan Jett’s Bad Reputation and nothing by Josh Groban.

Pretty Woman – I know, we don’t like to glamorize prostitution, girl-needs-rescue, or Richard Gere movies. But that one part where Vivian returns to the store that was not friendly to her when she was dressed like a streetwalker and has an armload of bags and she asks if they work on commission and then says “big mistake. Huge. I have to go shopping now.”  I love that part. The rest of the movie, not so much.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? – the last scene of the movie where Ulysses (George Clooney) and Penny (Holly Hunter) are arguing about the ring in the lake (”I counted to three, honey”).

Raising Arizona – OK, I’ll probably watch the whole thing, but if I only had time to watch one scene, it would be when H.I. robs the convenience store and steals the diapers. (”Son, you got a panty on your head”).
