I'm a listress, a listophile, a listy lister...

Thursday, November, 15, 2007

I love a list. Every year, before the New Year holiday, I make a list of resolutions that (sort of) correspond to the year (99 in 1999, 107 in 2007, and so on), trying to perfect the list each year. My reasoning is that my percentage of success is a lot higher with 100-plus mega resolutions than it would be with 10 measly ones. They’re small and specific. “Lose weight” turns into 11, 12, 13 things on the list: “join gym,” “work out five times a week,” “buy a juicer,” “eat raw foods...”

I make lists whenever I’m trying to make a decision, when I just feel like rating something (don’t make me admit I watch South Park or discuss the “list episode” that was on last night!), when I feel overwhelmed. I was thrilled to find out last week that  one of my former favorite print mags (it’s been out of print for a while), To-Do List, has a blog AND a book coming out. AND (!) is having a “craziest list” contest.

I am all over that. I plan on digging through some old notebooks this weekend. I vaguely remember a list that may or may not have been titled, “boyfriends I once thought about killing but decided not to because murder is wrong.”  Now that’s crazy.

I do the exact same thing when I make my resolutions for the year. I also saw the List episode on South Park.

KellyLove, I don't think that list is crazy. I think it'd be great. And how FAB would it be to "out" those fellows? Please, do us a favor. . .if you find the list, SHARE. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us."

Haha, awesome list! Have you heard of that "List Yourself" book? It has titles for lists already and space to write in (a list journal!) like "things that women are better at than men" and "people I've lost touch with." It's a thinker.~Sara
