I design greeting cards! I work for a financial and investment themed greeting card company, and I own my own stationery company, MEllen Designs.
I am a year out of college and have started my own stationery business, MEllen Designs (www.mellendesigns.com). So, in the small amount of time I find between drawing, designing and selling, I try and squeeze in a few other things I love, such as – relaxing to a cup of coffee on Saturday mornings,...

$158 for 20 of these invitations.

Is this expensive or is it just me? I'm asking because I really want to know. I'm young, broke, and not from NYC, LA, etc. (which doesn't really matter) but I'm pretty sure I'm not their target customer. I had to take a double, triple look at the price- I thought it must be a dirty trick on this dirty martini (ha,ha you think I'm clever, right?). I'm curious though, is there a substantial group of women who do spend this much on regular party invitations? If so, I need to up my prices, I'm charging 1/6 of that for custom jobs! Ha, just kidding, I'm not changing MEllen prices just yet. But really, a little help please, if you all know something I don't. Thanks.

It is a nice looking, modern invitation. I found it at rockpaperscissor.com by Prentiss - "Good Times" (definitely appropriate!).

For that, I'd want it to come with the martini!

I am not young. I am not broke. (I'm not "Charleston Magazine wealthy, but I'm not grad-student poor, either.) I have spent more than $600 on a pair of boots. And **I** think that is expensive. $158 for 20 invitations?!?!?! Are you kidding? They are absolutely lovely, to be sure. But that's like, what, almost $8.00 PER CARD? That's just too much. Shockingly, Target stores often have amazing invitations. Yes, they are pre-printed and you have to write on them but I've bought scores of invites from Target, paid someone with nice handwriting to fill them out and STILL paid less than eight bucks a card! That being said - they are awesome invites. . .
