For the next several months, we will be offering introductory rates for banner advertising on skirt.com. This document has been created to serve as a tutorial to what banner advertising is, how you can sell it and finally, what frequently asked questions you might run into. If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to contact skirt.com staff.
Selling site-wide banner advertising
Our local market sites currently do not have the traffic to justify local advertising for our advertisers. In order to work around this, your sold advertisements will appear across the entire skirt.com site. It is important that both you and the advertiser understand that their advertisement will appear across skirt.com national pages, your local pages and other market pages. We aren’t able to sell designated positions at this time.
Program Details
Most web banners are sold by CPM. (Cost per thousand) Initially, we will be selling bundles of traffic. Our bundles will include the following:
1. 10,000 page views over a 30 day period. Again, these page views (or impressions) will run across the entire skirt.com site.
2. A directory listing on the local market page. We will build the page for your market and train your editor to upload the content.
3. Each bundle has the set minimum price of $350.00 (thus a $35 CPM)
4. We have limited inventory because we are selling our banners by our traffic numbers. As traffic grows and more traffic is available, we will be able to sell more.
5. Every market has equal opportunity to sell these banners. We will be selling this on a first come, first serve basis.
6. Banner ads will be built by the market. (We have two sizes that we sell - a “leaderboard” 728X90 pixels and a “skyscraper.” 160X600) We use IAB standard sizes for these ads. IAB stands for Internet Advertising Bureau. IAB standards are normalized sizes sold across most web sites. To learn more, you can visit, http://www.iab.net.
7. Banner ads will be scheduled and “trafficked” through Morris. To submit an ad, you will need to fill out an insertion order and attach the order and the banner ad in an email and mail to adinsertion@skirt.com. You will receive a confirmation that we’ve received the ad and you will receive a confirmation when the ad has been posted. (We will require 24-48 business hours for ad placement.) You may change the ad during the campaign at any time. To do so, you will need to email us the updated file. (We will require 24 business hours to turn around updates to campaigns.) At the end of the campaign, skirt.com will deliver the metrics of the campaign to you and directly to the advertiser if you so desire.
8. Morris will be collecting a handling/marketing fee for this introductory effort. The fees will be put back into marketing skirt.com. Each market will be charged 20% of each sale ($70.00). This money will be reinvested back into the marketing of the site. We feel it is extremely important that we reinvest some revenue back into the site to grow our traffic, so eventually you have more to sell and can make more money.
9. This program will run for 3 months and will be reevaluated at that time.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Banner Building basics:
Banners are built and saved at 72 dpi. The two sizes that we are selling are 728X90 (called a leaderboard) and 160X600 (called a skyscraper). It is important that your designers build the ads and “save for the web” in either a .jpg or .gif format. For more specific guidelines and file sizes, download the advertising guidelines file below. These sizes and formats follow the Internet standards that most every web site follows set by the Internet Advertising bureau. If you would like more information click here: http://www.iab.net For more information about the technical specifications for the ads, please download the skirt! banner ad guidelines at the bottom of the page.
